Praising His Name

When Eric first asked me to help record “We Praise Your Name,” I had no idea how much work had and would go into creating this song. Eric originally sent me a rough draft of the song to practice with before we went to the recording studio. Once we got there, we ran through the song 10+ times to make sure we got the right sound, harmony, and fit. After that, I got to see Eric and the recording studio owner interact and mix the song in lots of different ways. It was so cool to see how many decisions went into making the choice on which to use. There were even some lyric changes that were made by Eric to better fit what the song was supposed to portray.

I give you all these details to show that each of these songs on the Council Road Worship, Volume 1 album are recorded so diligently, carefully looked at and practiced to ensure that the song that will eventually be listened to is both theologically sound and musically beautiful. To make sure they are going to be songs that represent our church and the kingdom of God well.

Getting to sing on the new Council Road album was so fun and also a huge privilege, as musical worship has always had a meaningful place in my personal walk with Christ. I specifically remember the time in my life when I was a new believer, attending my first conference with my church. There was a girl leading on stage, and while I had heard the song a million times, something about the way she sang it really touched my heart. That’s what I think is so powerful about this album - it’s made up of so many voices. Voices that are all unique and all used for the glory of God. Voices that might just touch someone’s heart in the way that girl’s voice touched mine.

It was such an honor to sing on “We Praise Your Name,” knowing how much work went in behind the scenes, and to know that my voice could be one of many that touches the heart of someone with this beautiful gospel message. To worship along with our original music, go to Council Road Worship Vol. 1 on your favoritie music platform. My hope is that this album recreates moments of connection with the Lord for all of us, as the songs themself do each week in our church.
